Contemporary British Artist, Nicola Anthony, worked collaboratively with the students at Little Artists Art Studio at The Arts House in April 2015, where she also gave a talk: ‘How to Be an Artist’. The ExtraOrdinary Idea was a live installation which was built, created and finished in one day, as a collaborative effort. In this second part of the SAVANTS Series, original works born from our emerging artists were displayed. Inspired by everything from nature to society, fantasy to reality, and contemporary to classical styles, students from 4 years old to 74 years old shared the labyrinthine creativity within their own minds.
Little Artists students then had the distinct pleasure of interacting with Nicola Anthony again in January 2017 at The Singapore Contemporary Art Show at Suntec. Her installation – The Observatory – allowed children and adults to enter a world of thoughtful voyuerism and endless poetic possibilities. You could view from both within and without, through more than 16,000 rolls of paper. It was interpreted by so many people as so many different things, and thus was one of the most talked about installations in the show. Our curious and highly imaginative kids on the Kids Art Tours loved hearing more about what they were seeing and insisting parents use a hashtag to make it viral: #observatoryart
Little Artists Art Studio then organized a Special Experience at Intersections Gallery to see the latest from Contemporary Artist, Nicola Anthony, on 1st March 2017. Gallery Owner, Marie-Pierre Mol, offered our senior students and their parents an evening with Ms. Anthony where she gave insight into her works and process of painting, sculpting and burning to get their creative minds working.
